(The math department uses Standards Based Grading. Students may receive a grade of PROFICIENT, APPROACHING, BEGINNING, OR EXEMPLARY.
Final Grades are based on the following data
Academic Performance: assessments connected to the learning goal and state learning standards
Learning Process: completion of work on time, homework, classwork
Community Contribution: attendance, group work, participation
The grading scale is as follows:
4 - Exemplary - Student exceeds grade level expectations.
3 - Proficient - Student meets grade level expectations
2 - Approaching - Student meets some of the grade level expectations
1 - Beginning - Students meets few or none of the grade level expectations.
NG - No Grade - Student has not provided sufficient evidence of learning to determine a grade. This may be due to a plethora absences, missing assignments, an excess of incomplete assignments, and/or refusal to participate in class.
On the report card you will see letter grades. They roughly translate in the following manner:
A - Getting mostly 3's and 4's
B - Getting mostly 3's and some 2's
C - Getting mostly 2's, may be missing some work.
NG - Getting mostly 1's or is missing a majority of their work. This will become an F if not addressed before the end of the term.
